I've had peculiar visions whirling my mind ever since - and sought out the scholar, Josh, to ask if he knew anything about the sign and what all this might mean."

[2024/06/03 16:19] Alicia Frakture: Leesha looks at Debben. the contact was supposed to go to Arc but was in Mirkwood. Makes sense. So we go to Mirkwood, and then from there possibily to Arc.

[2024/06/03 16:27] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: (( Yeah, weapon from blacksmith, maybe a crossbow from suitable shop, then the alchemist for last dropoff of dust, and then using the remainder of the letter of credit towards goods that should be in limited supply in arc. Maybe tools. ))
[2024/06/03 16:29] Sonja Bikergrrl: okay... blacksmith first... there's the loud banging of the hammer, the constant CLANKA-CLANKA.... clank clank... CLANKA-CLANKA... clank clank... which at this stage is near background noise. Even the subtly varying and expensive and impossible to see fruit sellers don't raise your eyebrows.
[2024/06/03 16:30] Sonja Bikergrrl: The dwarf in the blacksmith, of course, shouts a greeting. "HAIL TO YE! HEY! YOU COME FOR THAT WEAPON OF YOURS?"
[2024/06/03 16:32] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Hail right back!" Debben shouts in response. "That I have! I'm excited to see it in action." She grins, her shoulders relaxing now that she gets to stand in a proper dwarven forge for a few minutes.
[2024/06/03 16:34] Sonja Bikergrrl: The dwarf grins and his apprentice comes reverentially bearing something under a cover. They find a work bench and present to you... something quite odd, yet, clearly well and lovingly made. A long metal tube, almost as long as Debben can reach, a wooden grip, a trigger mechanism, some various levers and catches... it hints at containing great power.
[2024/06/03 16:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: It turns out the dwarf managed to get some powder, too, and cast some shot; there's sights to aim on, and he shows you outside, the little holes the weapon has made when fired.
[2024/06/03 16:35] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She bows in respect and then accepts the weapon with both hands, turning the device over to inspect first it's engravings (or lack thereof) and then it's mechanisms.
[2024/06/03 16:35] Sonja Bikergrrl: Blacksmith: "YE MIGHT WANT TO TRY IT A BIT, GET A FEEL FOR IT."
[2024/06/03 16:36] Sonja Bikergrrl: Although it hints at being magical, it's quite mechanical, just very detailed.
[2024/06/03 16:36] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Of course. Where's somewhere we can test it?" She got hold of the relevant powder a while back, and a supply of pellets as well, if this player recalls correctly.
[2024/06/03 16:37] Sonja Bikergrrl: Out the back! There's a small yard to try it in, enclosed by tall stone walls.
[2024/06/03 16:39] Sonja Bikergrrl: The instructions left by Boddyknock are quite detailed... powder in barrel, ram down, bullet, ram down, prime pan with powder, wrap matchcord round hammer, light match cord, aim, pull trigger. And you're rewarded with a loud BANG, a flash and a cloud of smoke - and a hole chipped out of the stone wall. (It also has a kick like a mule.)
[2024/06/03 16:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: (I'll copy the exact stats, got 'em somewhere... from memory it fires 1 in 3 rounds, does 2d6 damage on a hit. Range.... a LOT.)
[2024/06/03 16:40] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben stumbles back at the kick of the weapon, breaking out into laughter when she sees the hole and the sheer power of this device. Even with the slow loading time... it's potentially able to resolve quite a lot of problems with what will often be it's only shot in a battle.
[2024/06/03 16:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: Katana: A primitive fire arm? You've not fired such a weapon? Allow me to instruct you in such a thing.
[2024/06/03 16:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: (You're not proficient in firearms, but you do have a spare proficiency slot)

[2024/06/03 16:47] Sonja Bikergrrl: Between the written instructions and Katanas' background, she shows how best to load the thing, how to tuck it against a shoulder and how to gently squeeze the trigger, to ensure accurate targetting. You recall the tubes that the creatures who attacked her were carrying and using - and you recall the tube at her hip. You get an inkling that that might be something similiar.

[2024/06/03 17:57] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben will keep to the edges of the party, taking a tankard of ale and sipping it slowly, intending to keep her wits about her tonight.

[2024/06/03 17:58] Sonja Bikergrrl: It's not your night... there's a faint but steadily growing bonga-bonga-bonga-bonga-bonga and Bongo Boggis appears, flanked by two of his orc guards. "Gentlemen.... fair ladies... this is quite the party. And it seems our good friend Debben is leaving town again."
[2024/06/03 17:59] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Ah, of course. She sets her tankard on the table, a glance scanning the room to check first where Leesha is, and then the possible exits, before glancing back to Bongo and judging if she's about to be asked to speak.
[2024/06/03 18:00] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Hopefully Debben won't be a stranger next time she's back in town, after all, Frendz are Frendz! And if she materializes in the Royal Court again... maybe she'll remember to steal a crown or something." The various inebrieted thieves laugh uproariously.
[2024/06/03 18:01] Alicia Frakture: Leesha hears that and looks over at Debben with a raised eyebrow.
[2024/06/03 18:02] Sonja Bikergrrl: Bongos approaches Debben, holding out a rolled up parchment. "And a gift from the Frendz... we all dug in and got this for ya. It'll help you remember us!" There's more drunken laughter.
[2024/06/03 18:05] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Debben, detecting that a joke is expected of her at this juncture, shrugs and smiles. "I should have gotten at least a good set of cutlery or something. Another day." She accepts the rolled up parchment, carefully paying attention to the feeling of the hairs on her arm for any hint of magic. The thought of the feared 'explosive runes' flits through the back of her mind.
[2024/06/03 18:06] Sonja Bikergrrl: The scroll appears to be just that, a scroll. Although... there's a feeling of very faint magic.... but, as far as you can tell, no actual magic, per se

[2024/06/03 18:09] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Well, nothing for it, she'll stand up dramatically, and unfurl the scroll, pointing the text up towards the ceiling just in case, and then, if nothing seems to leap or explode, reading the first few words.

[2024/06/03 18:13] Alicia Frakture: I ask the bartender if he's got any sausage sandwiches? She getting hungry.
[2024/06/03 18:13] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She moves to put it away, fully intact, that particular spell. The one that means you can trust anyone.
[2024/06/03 18:13] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: And therefore, that you can trust no one.
[2024/06/03 18:14] Sonja Bikergrrl: Bongos nods and heads out. "Party on, lads, laddettes, but don't forget yer quotas." The drinking and partying starts again, with lots of jokes and stories told. And there's sausages. On sticks, even.
[2024/06/03 18:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: And if I recall right, the spell grants 2-8 extra Charisma. Useful in certain situations.
